On this page you will find all you need to download and build all the markers and pieces used in the game. There are 4 kinds: the Animal PENS; the OVENS and the SHRINES (they are on the same sheet) and the HOUSES (with their flip side ABANDONED HOUSES).
 |
PENS
You can download the PENS sheet by clicking here, or there, or even over here.
|
|
OVENS AND SHRINES
These markers are smaller than the Pens so they could fit on the same sheet.
|
 |
HOUSES
If you haven't yet understood the thumbnail itself is a link, you can also download the HOUSES sheet by clicking here.
|
|
ABANDONED HOUSES
The abandoned Houses sheet is actually the back of the House pieces.

SUPPLIES
6 brownish A4/Letter sheets; 4 A4/Letter sheets of different colors (i.e. 1 yellow, 1 red, 1 green and 1 blue); Thick cardboard (2mm - similar to a book's hardcover); one foamboard 5mm thick (at least, but no more than 10mm); a pair of scissors; a boxcutter; Glue in stick (do not use gel glue or liquid glue. You could use glue in spray but it is way more expensive); A cutting board.

How to craft PENS, OVENS and SHRINES ?
1
1 - PRINT THE SHEET
The same process will be applied for all 3 kinds of markers. Once you downloaded them, you need to print them out on a A4 sheet. If you're using USLetter size, your printer should adjust automatically, but make sure you don't select the option "scale to fit".
You should use a light brownish kind of paper color. I leave that detail to your artistic sensibility. You will use the same color for Pens, Ovens and Shrines (as well as abandoned House side).
For each marker you have 1 plate for the front and 1 plate for the back.

2 - CUT AND GLUE THE FRONT
Once printed you need to cut and glue the front side first. The strong lines (red arrow) on the front side will guide you to cut the markers later on. You need to glue it on a piece of cardboard. I personaly prefer gray cardboard 2mm thick, same as used for hardcover books. You could go a bit thicker but it'll make it harder to cut afterward.
Once the front side plate is glued on the board you must cut at least 2 sides sharp and neet so that you can adjust the back side on the next step.
Actually, you could stop here and start to cut each marker individually, but they wouldn't have a back side, which is less convenient to locate them in a stack during the game.

3 - CUT AND GLUE THE BACK
Last step: cut the back with 2 sides loose (red arrows) and 2 sides close to the border (red lines). Then put a nice and even layer of glue on the cardboard itself. Then put the backside sheet on it and adjust it using the 2 sides you previously cut close to the border.
Once everything's in place you can cut each marker individually. It is always better to wait a few minutes to let the glue dry out before you start cutting.

How to craft HOUSES and their back ABANDON HOUSES side ?
1
1 - PRINT THE HOUSES SHEETS
Once downloaded, you need to print them out on A4 sheets. If you're using USLetter size, your printer should adjust automatically, but make sure you don't select the option "scale to fit".
You should use 4 distinctive colors of paper (for 4 players). I leave that detail to your artistic sensibility.

2 - THE FOAMBOARD
Houses need to be made of a thick material. I personaly use a 5mm white foam board. That is very easy to cut using a boxcutter. You can use a range from 5mm to 10mm thick. Depending on the tools, the time and your budget available, you could also use thick gray cardboard or even layered wood.
|
 3
3 - CUT AND GLUE THE HOUSES
Once printed you just need to glue the houses on the board. Then cut the 4 sides sharp and neet to facilitate the adjusting of the other side: the abandoned houses.
|
4
4 - PRINT THE ABANDONED HOUSES
Print 4 times the abandoned house sheet. You should use the same color of paper you used for the Pens, Ovens and Shrines. Same remark regarding the paper size and printing recommendations.
|
5
5 - CUT THE ABANDONED HOUSES
Cut each abandoned houses sheet with 2 sides loose (red arrows) and 2 sides close to the border (red lines).
You will use these 2 sides to adjust the sheet when you glue it on the back of the houses board.
|
 6
6 - GLUE AND ADJUST
Put an even layer of glue on the back of each House board and adjust the abandoned house sheets on them. Try to adjust the best you can so that each abandoned house square will match a house on the other side.
|
7
7 - CUT THE HOUSE PIECES
Last step. Using a boxcutter (beware ! it cuts !), cut each individual house using the colored house side. To save time, you should first cut long lines (on the longest side), leaving a few houses uncut. Then you can cut through the smallest side: with 1 strike you will cut several houses at once (as shown on the picture). Once again, take your time with that step, especially if you are not used to boxcutters. We don't want you to start playing wounded !
