The Game of the 5 Fields could be considered as a version of Chess at a strategic scale. It's an abstract version of the expansion of the civilazations during the antiquity.
You will be leading your people, represented by a Queen and her Princes, and you'll try to be the first one to build a City and 5 Fields to supply food.
The Game Of 5 Fields is the very first "serious" game I designed, in 1994. Around the same time I discovered the great and already popular Settlers of Catane by Klaus Teuber. Both games are using hexagons for their board, but that's about the only similarity. Anyway, that discouraged me from doing anything out of my game. It looked too much as a poor version of Settlers. The 5 Fields stayed unused until now. I put it on free acces, hoping you'll like this early creation of mine.
This game is designed for 2 players. Each game should last about 20 to 30 minutes. The material is very simple and can be borrowed from other games using hexagons for the board. Same idea for the pawns which can be recycled from a Chess or a Checkers set. You just need to read the rules (9 pages with examples) and you'll be ready to play in no time. No need to cut or glue anything.
